CAEP support

The NDC update expanded the number and scope of its sectoral targets:

CAEP supported the expansion of the FOLU sector by outlining a national roadmap for landscape and forestry restoration.
Targets for agriculture were set both across adaption and mitigation, with CAEP laying foundations for the MRV system for the sector.
CAEP conducted a baseline analysis of the energy sector emissions and proposed recommendations for mitigation strategies to boost the share of renewable energy and improve energy efficiency.

Tajikistan’s NDC is based on more robust greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories and modelling.

CAEP supported a major re-calculation and enhancement exercise of GHG emissions since 1990s within the sectors of industry and construction, transport, infrastructure and agriculture.

The Government of Tajikistan made efforts to include gender and climate mainstreaming elements into its NDC revision process, raising public awareness around those issues.

CAEP supported the preparation of the Guidance Note on Gender Mainstreaming into NDCs, sharing it with all stakeholders involved in the revision.
Additionally supported awareness raising campaign which included TV interviews, social media content and multi-stakeholder meetings to publicize the NDC revision process.
