Revising the mitigation target through modelling of emissions, analysis and stakeholder consultations to validate the new targets.
Providing analytical support in the spatial vulnerability through a Country Report on Climate Risk, identifying and mapping climate risk, exposure, and vulnerability hotspots at subnational and local/community levels, feeding into sectoral updates.

Sao Tome expanded its information and assessment methodologies, ensuring the new targets are supported by a robust analysis, as well as developed its financing planning by identifying bankable projects to deliver on NDC priorities. CAEP supported quality enhancement by:

Providing analytical support to estimate the cost estimates for prioritized NDC actions, as well as coordinating stakeholder consultations, modelling and alignment with wider national planning.
Supporting the submission of flagship projects for funding support, as well as building capacity on developing bankable projects pipeline.
Conducting scientific-based analysis to feed into the prioritization framework of adaptation actions.
Identifying synergies with SDGs, to accelerate the achievement of both the climate and sustainable development objectives.

The process of NDC revision has been transparent, following the ICTU standards, and inclusive of vulnerable groups. CAEP supported this through:

Providing capacity building support on NDC submission process following the UNFCCC reporting guidelines.
Supporting the alignment of the NDC with the National Plan for Sustainable Development and including gender mainstreaming into the climate policy.
Identifying climate change vulnerabilities at local and community levels, to ensure they are addressed by the climate change strategy.
