CAEP support

The NDC update enhanced financial planning and MRV systems:
  • CAEP supported coordination of thematic roundtables with the private sector to identify mitigation and adaptation measures already being undertaken by the private sector.
  • CAEP strengthened regional capacities for preparing regional GHG inventories through trainings and guidelines. Additionally, CAEP support included the design of a guarantee fund (GF) scheme for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) to Finance NDC-aligned investments, and the development of the MRV system to track and manage finances coming from the international and domestic funding.
  • CAEP contributed to the development of the Peruvian Long-Term Strategy (ENCC 2050) process including Adaptation and Mitigation Actions.
  • CAEP supported development of regional work agendas, aligned with sectoral ones, in the five macro regions in order to identify potential new mitigation and adaptation measures.

CAEP support

Peru enhanced its NDC process by ensuring it is inclusive of various stakeholders, building out national ownership over its climate strategy. CAEP supported this in various ways:
  • Organization of coordination spaces with the private and public sector in order to complement sectorial NDCs and agendas linking the priorities of the private sector and sectoral development plans, with the aim of obtaining commitments.
  • Design and implementation of a climate change classroom course for regional governments to incorporate climate change measures in Subnational Climate Change Strategies.
  • Contribution to the design of the Nono the Bear campaign, aimed at increasing engagement of public and private organizations in the Carbon Footprint Peru initiative.
