CAEP support

Papua New Guinea’s NDC expanded their quantitative and qualitative targets as part of elaborating their sector specific plans.

CAEP supported the development of mitigation plans for the AFOLU and Energy sector. This included an identification of priority activities and indicators that best support the achievement of more ambitious targets for the sectors.
CAEP support also contributed to the development of more robust national greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, to create a more stronger evidence base for modelling.

CAEP support

PNG strengthened institutional arrangements and built capacity to manage its MRV system, ensuring national ownership within implementation planning.

CAEP conducted an assessment of the legal and institutional frameworks related to climate governance and drafted a chapter on institutional structures for the NDC Implementation Plan.
CAEP coordinated engagement with the key stakeholders in the development of the mitigation plans. These included the Climate Change Development Authority, line ministries and other non-governmental agencies, such as, universities or research institutes.
CAEP support improved the key functions of the MRV for the REDD+ program.
