CAEP support

Nepal’s NDC targets cover an expanded scope of sectors and were set in alignment with the long-term strategy (LTS).

CAEP supported a feasibility assessment for various sectors to reach Nepal’s target of net zero by 2045. The sectors included residential, commercial, industrial, agriculture, transport, AFOLU, IPPU and waste sector.
For the transport sector, CAEP supported the development of Nepal's E-mobility Transportation Implementation Plan, which included the strategy, specific activities and the associated costs.
CAEP delivered support for Nepal’s long-term planning within priority adaptation sectors, spanning health, drinking water and sanitation, tourism, natural and cultural heritage, disaster risk reduction and management, rural and urban settlements.

The NDC update made use of more robust data handling, engagement with subnational actors and clear outlining of institutional arrangements

CAEP supported the review of current greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories with analytical support to assess quality and availability.
Analytical support was provided to develop a High-Resolution Online Climate Data Tool to embed decision making within climate models.
CAEP supported the development of an indicative budget for implementing the prioritized actions and defining institutional arrangement for implementation and monitoring interventions to track progress.

CAEP support

The process of updating Nepal’s NDC included representatives from vulnerable communities and built out educational capacity around climate change.

CAEP supported inclusive stakeholder engagement through a series of workshops where 130 stakeholders from government, CSOs, private, youth, Indigenous and women group organizations, discussed NDC implementation.
CAEP conducted capacity building through the virtual and community radio program on Mountain voices for Sustainable Human Future.
CAEP supported the development of a masters program curriculum, introducing the Enhanced Transparency Framework.
