Liberia expanded its mitigation targets to include more sectors, as well as identified the proportion that can be met unconditionally thanks to a cost-benefit analysis. CAEP supported this by:

Providing recommendations for the revision of mitigation and adaptation NDC targets for five sectors (forests, agriculture, coastal zones, fisheries, and health), ensuring incorporation of all information gathered through consultations, workshops, and analysis.
Analytical support for implementing a cost-benefit analysis for estimating the cost of unconditional targets and communicating financing needed to meet conditional targets.

CAEP support

Liberia’s NDC enhanced its quality through a comprehensive capacity building plan, understanding the resource requirements to meet the NDC targets and expanding the national MRV capabilities.

CAEP supported engagement with more than 500 stakeholders and 30 national experts in NDC consultations. These consultations validated the NDC scope and formulation, building up national knowledge on NDC related inventories and analysis for key sectors.
CAEP funded a cost-benefit analysis of potential target activities for each sector to inform the development of NDC targets. It was subsequently adjusted to a final resource requirements total.
CAEP supported training for 30 government technicians working in the energy sector on the linkage between the National Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory and monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) tools to track progress made in NDC implementation.

CAEP supported the process of understanding and filling out the Information to facilitate Clarity, Transparency, and Understanding table for advanced compliance with the Paris Agreement, and supported a Gender Dialogue with over 80 women empowerment groups represented.
