CAEP support

Kyrgyz Republic raised the ambition of mitigation targets through stronger unconditional targets and wider range of sectors and gasses.

• CAEP provided technical assistance for developing emissions projections based on the latest greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories and identify relevant emissions reduction actions. This work encompassed all the high emitting sectors, including energy and transport, Industrial processes, AFOLU, and waste.

The adaptation component of the NDC has been expanded based on a vulnerability and risk assessment, feeding into Kyrgyz Republic’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP).

• CAEP supported the quantification of adaptation targets based on a vulnerability and risk assessment that determined the spatial distribution of populations at risk for specific climate-related impacts. This resulted in a list of priority sectors, which include water, agriculture, energy, health, disaster risk management, and forest and biodiversity.
