CAEP support

Jordan has committed to greater emissions reductions, while also expanding the sectoral scope of its mitigation and adaptation strategies.

Targets are based on more robust data and modelling, supported by CAEP funded technical assistance focused on identifying and addressing data gaps, quality assurance and mapping of national and sub-national NDC indicators.

CAEP support

Jordan put in place necessary steps for successful implementation through designing its MRV system, developing a climate finance strategy, aligning with SDGs and enhancing governance coordination, engaging cities and municipalities.

CAEP supported technical assistance for improving data and information quality feeding into Jordan’s MRV system, as well as training relevant institutions on the inputs and management of the system. Assistance also targeted the alignment of the NDC with wider strategic goals including national development priorities and SDGs.
CAEP support included analytical components on identifying financing requirements and components of an investment plan as part of the Cost Benefit Analysis and Climate Finance Strategy report.
CAEP supported the cooperation with subnational actors to build capacity and strengthen the implementation mechanisms within cities and municipalities.

As part of making its NDC more inclusive, Jordan assessed the impact of gender mainstreaming on its climate change policy, while also raising awareness and encouraging knowledge exchange amongst relevant stakeholders.

Jordan received CAEP support in establishing a gender-disaggregated database as well as defining a set of indicators to track progress of gender mainstreaming within its national development plans.
As part of their wide-reaching support to Jordan, CAEP support facilitated a knowledge exchange and awareness raising amongst relevant stakeholders on climate change related issues. This included governmental, non-governmental, academic, private sectors, and stakeholders dealing with vulnerable communities.
