CAEP support

Grenada’s NDC enhanced its energy sector targets and added refrigerant gasses. CAEP support included:

Analytical support for developing the Assessment Report on Mitigation Potential, which included updated sectoral greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory, vulnerability mapping assessment and a review of energy policy framework.
Strengthening Grenada’s capacity to undertake energy audits and identify cost saving measures in the energy sector.
Technical support for delivering a quantitative analysis and policy recommendations on including refrigerant gases in NDC update, reflected in the Green Cooling Action Plan.

The adaptation component of Grenada’s NDC is based on a vulnerability assessment and prioritization of measures within the sectors of agriculture, water, and disaster risk management.

CAEP supported a mapping exercise of communities at risk to inform adaptation targets and actions. Highly vulnerable areas and population at risk for specific climate related impacts were identified and validated with relevant stakeholders.

The Government of Grenada established a comprehensive institutional strengthening and capacity building program to facilitate reporting on NDC enhancement and build national ownership over the NDC revision process.

CAEP supported capacity building and engagement with to coordinate implementation planning of NDC activities.
Workshops included public and private stakeholders such as financial institutions, educational institutions, Government Ministries and statutory organizations.
Analytical support and capacity building to develop an MRV report and MRV training on future data collection.

Workshops and capacity building in Grenada were tailored to the needs of youth and civil society, also aiming to increase their awareness and alignment with NDC’s objectives.

CAEP support include workshops for homeowners and youth sustainable domestic energy consumption.
Assistance additional include technical support for designing and disseminating material for the public, youth, technical officers and media. The communication explained Grenada's new climate strategy and future sustainable development plans.
