CAEP support

Chile’s NDC enhanced its emissions targets and expanded sectoral coverage, developing sectoral carbon budgets and alignment with its long-term strategy. CAEP supported this through:

Technical support for developing sector specific 5-year carbon budgets, supported by strengthened governance and institutional arrangements.
Technical assistance for developing the long-term strategy (LTS), through quantification of economic co-benefits of decarbonization pathways that lead to Net Zero by 2050.

CAEP support

The NDC strengthened institutional arrangements and capacity building to support its implementation:

Supporting the design of a mechanism to allocate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across sectors and attribute responsibilities to sectorial ministries to monitor emissions in the future.
Supporting workshops with local stakeholders within government and academia to generate knowledge and research support on carbon neutrality.

CAEP support

Chile enhanced its process by ensuring transparent communication of its NDC objectives and assumptions, as well as considering the inclusion of vulnerable groups.

With CAEP support, a guidance document was developed to standardize the supply of information from relevant actors, both state and non-state, into the process to update the NDC, including standardized forms and protocols for prioritized sectors
