CAEP support

Cambodia’s NDC enhanced adaptation and mitigation targets by expanding sectoral scope, expanding scale of targets and adaptation targets. CAEP targeted ambition through:

Providing analytical support for modeling emissions scenarios, greenhouse gas (GHG) tracking system, and sectoral mitigation and adaptation policies.
Targeting support to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, to formulate its new mitigation and adaptation strategy for 2021-2030.
Setting out a long-term vision for AFOLU, IPPU, waste and energy sectors as part of the long-term strategy (LTS) development.

CAEP support

NDC quality was enhanced with the development of an MRV framework, a private sector engagement plan and implementation financing. CAEP supported this by:

Providing technical assistance and capacity building for developing and implementing measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) systems.
Supporting stakeholder engagement and capacity building for developing a private sector engagement plan in collaboration with private sector actors.
Supporting the development of business cases for investments in climate resilient technologies.
Cost-benefit models were developed for different vegetable productions using different set of climate resilient technologies. These crop budgets were translated into a financial model for banks to consider providing loans or lease financing.

Cambodia’s updated NDC includes considerations on ensuring mitigation and adaptation actions are gender and vulnerable groups inclusive.

CAEP supported this by providing analytical support towards sustainable development impact analysis and capacity building on gender inclusion.
