CAEP support

The Government of Argentina increased its emissions reductions ambition, through mitigation and adaptation activities that are aligned with its long-term strategy (LTS). [NC1] [K2]

CAEP supported the drafting of Argentina’s first draft of the NPMACC (National Plan for Mitigation and Adaptation to Climate Change).[NC3] [K4] The NPMACC was delivered through a collaborative effort between technical teams from the NCCC (National Cabinet of Climate Change) and NCCD (National Climate Change Directorate), through a stock take of existing studies and ongoing research.
Identify the regulatory, normative and institutional frameworks with a view to revising or designing new legislation and policies to facilitate successful adaptation and LTS processes.
Develop the adaptation component of the LTS, with a focus on agriculture and ensure consistency with the NDC to enhance climate ambition.

CAEP support

Argentina’s NDC outlined a comprehensive plan for capacity building and NDC financing, aiming to strengthen the enabling environment for implementation and future target setting.

CAEP supported training and knowledge exchange with national researchers and scientists involved in studies of impact and vulnerability to climate change, modelling, adaptation.
CAEP provided analytical support to deliver studies and designed roadmaps for the implementation of NDC financing instruments. These included carbon pricing, blended finance, and green bonds options among other proposal of innovative business cases and financing schemes.

CAEP support

The NDC enhanced the inclusiveness and transparency of the updating process, raising awareness and participation through platforms such as ‘Mesa Ampliada and Mesa de Articulacion Provincial’ to bring diverse voices to the discussion on climate change policy.

CAEP provided support to strengthen the National Climate Change Cabinet, including the development of enabling conditions for the coordinated work of the Cabinet in order to facilitate a fluid articulation and unification of LTS climate governance objectives, including at the sub-national level.
CAEP provided analytical support for analyzing adaptation opportunities for adaptation based on ecosystems, the implementing partners organized trainings targeting hundreds of young people and public officials on the NDC.
CAEP supported the organization awareness raising events for the general public, students, media, private sector and other key actors. Topics discussed ranged from the LTS revision process, climate change scenarios, impacts and needs of adaptation, and potential synergies with mitigation.
