CAEP support

Antigua and Barbuda enhanced its ambition by aligning with the 1.5°C mitigation goal and reaching net-zero by 2040, as well as by setting individual quantitative and/or qualitative targets for the priority sectors[CL1] [KG2].

CAEP supported a feasibility analysis informing the National Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reduction Plan and Energy Road Map, including a technical report on renewable energy technology needs that was also used for implementation planning.
CAEP funded a study of insurance products and services available in-country for farmers, fishers, and business owners. These measures are meant to reduce vulnerability in adaptation sectors by facilitating financial recovery from extreme climate events.

CAEP support

Antigua and Barbuda NDC strengthened its institutional arrangements for implementation, aligned with a Just Transition strategy and enhanced its data gathering practices to track finance and social inclusion within its MRV system.

CAEP’s support focused on coordinating engagement to build institutional capacity and national ownership over the NDC revision process. A total of 10 workshops and 22 meetings were hosted by the OECS Commission with more than 200 attendants involved in revision planning.
CAEP supported the development of a Baseline Analysis for the Just Transition of the Workforce. Building upon a technical needs assessment, training programs were proposed to facilitate the just transition of the workforce towards greener occupations.
CAEP supported the enhancement of the MRV by producing an update report on the current capabilities of the system, gathering inputs across adaptation, mitigation, finance and exploring ways to measure social inclusion.

CAEP support

Gender and social inclusion were considered throughout the NDC’s revision and implementation process, including the development of a gender-responsive green business program and increasing youth’s involvement in environmental issues.

CAEP supported a series of stakeholder workshops and interviews to gather information and recommendations for inclusive investment in renewable energy.
CAEP supported the development of a survey to understand the impact of climate on household budget and spending patterns. The impacts were analyzed with gender and social inclusion angles.
