CAEP support

Albania committed to greater emissions reductions, while also expanding the sectoral scope of its mitigation and adaptation strategies.

CAEP supported the development of a Renewables Readiness Assessment (RRA), which informed the NDC’s mitigation targets for the energy sector. The RRA included gaps, barriers and recommendations for Albania’s renewable energy deployment.
Development of the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) was supported by CAEP. New adaptation targets focused on tourism, population and settlements in coastal areas.

Albania enhanced its NDC implementation capabilities through strengthening its institutional capacities and arrangements and costing its targets.

CAEP supported the design of the Implementation Roadmap and organized workshops for key stakeholders to raise awareness and understanding of the adaptation measures in the AFOLU sector.
Focusing on the energy sector, CAEP support included capacity building sessions focused on designing effective renewable energy targets.

Albania’s NDC enhanced transparency and inclusiveness by deepening the understanding and awareness on vulnerabilities and climate change impacts for local livelihoods.

In setting targets for the fisheries and aquaculture sector, CAEP activity included engaging with national experts and local stakeholders to gather insight on local needs and vulnerabilities.
CAEP supported an outreach campaign targeting agricultural communities and youth. The campaign was centered on the challenges, concerns and motivations for climate change action which was developed into a documentary.
